“Debunking the Myth of the Perfect Planner"

Presenters Diane Thomson and Deirdre Smith

Do you ever get asked for advice on what’s the “Perfect Planner”? As we know, the perfect planner is the one that’s perfect for the planner. But what do we need to know about the client before giving them advice on what is the “perfect planner”?

Diane and Deirdre will be discussing the various types of planners that are available for us and our clients. The focus of this talk will be paper planning systems, although online options will be highlighted.

The main objectives of this presentation will be:

  • The science behind the importance of writing things down.

  • Brain types and processing modalities and how they impact time perception and the ability to plan for that time.

  • Strategies to help clients go from planning to doing and then maintaining their system.

Finally, many of the popular planners will be on hand for you to see how they are used.

Deirdre Smith is the owner of Happy Place Organizing. Deirdre has been in business for 6 years, specializing in working with clients who have ADHD. She is also the current Vice President of NAPO-NNJ.

Diane Thomson is owner of Thomson Blueprints for Living. In addition to being a Professional Organizer, she is a Certified Organizer Coach and an active member of the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. Diane has been in business since 2003 and currently the Director of Administration for NAPO-NNJ.
